INTERVIEW: Drae Boi talks about Don Jazzy and his hustle at the MAVINs headquarters in Naija
Hey guys, wassup ??
I am probably the Laziest blogger in the entire #Team237 (worst of all now that i have ventured into music lol) but when it comes to important things, i get on my keyboard and start typing lol.
Well one of Kmer's most hardworking and ambitious producers recently travelled to Nigeria for a very important reason (which you will find out in the lil interview below) and i couldn't help but talk about his hustle. Edi Ledrae/Drae Boi and I had a lil chat, and he spilled some information about his trip. Read on;
Smarty: Yoooo warzuuuppp??? Ha ya side??

Edi Ledrae: My side dey chaxxxx bruhhhhhhh
Smarty: It's strange interviewing you, since ya my brother lol but cam here, this is for ya fans and followers. So tell us, who is Edi Ledrae / Drae Boi
Edi Ledrae: Hahahahahah I know Right ? Well ... like I always say, I don't believe I'm at that "I have fans" point yet. Edi ledrae is first of all a proud father (of a beautiful baby girl called Andraya), a music producer and business man
Smarty: Throw a little light on Thee 808 Nation for those who don't know what it is
Edi Ledrae: The 808 Nation is something I'm trying to build, I'm looking past a label but an entire media house and an enterprise to set a difference in the Cameroon music scene and Africa at large. It is home to a few talented individuals ranging from Artists, Song writers and people in the field of Design/Photography.
Smarty: WOW, Amazing. We can see you've been in Naija for close to a month now. You deh find wetin there sha??
Edi Ledrae: Hahahaha Yeah, I have been in Nigeria for a while now, say 3 weeks. I am currently an intern at MAVIN Records and pursuing other things.
Smarty: Awesome. So tell us, which celebs have you met naw?
Edi Ledrae: I've met with amazing people like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, D Prince, Baby Fresh, infact the entire Supreme Mavin Dynasty (SMD) crew. I also met with Iyanya, ChiGurl and i attended the Industry Night where i got to see Falz and Simi perform
Tiwa Savage, Edi Ledrae |
Smarty: How would you compare the two Entertainment (Music especially) industries?
Edi Ledrae: Wow .. from what i have seen, there's no competition really. Nigeria is on another level, while Cameroon is just getting started
Smarty: Don Jazzy and the MAVIN acts, what was their reaction to kmer music??
Edi Ledrae: Well, they liked our jam but most of the songs we do are things they've already heard so very few songs were new to them.
Baby Fresh, Edi Ledrae, ChiGurl |
Smarty: What have you learnt from this whole experience ??
Edi Ledrae: *Phewww* Honestly speaking, I have learnt way too much that I can't even put in words right now, I go surely flop the whole page if i start to talk lol
Edi Ledrae. Iyanya |
Smarty: Erhmm it wasn't fun interviewing you cus I knew all these answers already lol but anyway, any last words for your followers / fans (I know you hate that word lol)???
Edi Ledrae: Lol. Well ... In the words of Don Jazzy, "If music is all that you have, use it to the fullest. Even if they put you in a desert, make music with sand"
Smarty: I personally wish you much more success on your journey, keep on making Cameroon proud. By the way .. Omo you don fat ooh, see jaws sha. (Hope my naija tok deh straight biko
)

Edi Ledrae:

Omo na Galla and semo I don dey eat sha ... The tin dey FULL pesin well well. Thanks ohh my cock head bladdaaa

Smarty: Hahahah Go away lol. A #BaMettaParty will be waiting for you when you return.

There you have it, my interview with this naughty brother of mine lol. He recently posted a photo of himself and Don Jazzy on his facebook profile, with the following caption;
"If Music (African Music/Music in Africa) was the Bible, then THIS MAN would be Moses or Peter and Paul all combined together! I'll probably get all emotional here but this is not an opportunity people just get everyday especially coming from where I come from! I've studied, idolized and admired your work all my life right up till this very minute. The past three weeks has been priceless for me. Being in the same room with a LEGEND and the Most Influential Producer in Nigeria and AFRICA at large. I couldn't believe when I got the text that I was supposed to come over, speechless was my reaction. I want to THANK YOU for having me, for answering my questions, for listening to my music and commenting on them positively and for an opportunity a million people I know would kill for, to watch your creative and creating process (which is thrilling on every level)
I've learnt a lot these past few weeks way more than I could even digest. THANK YOU BOSS @donjazzy#MavinBoss . Thank you for being such an AMAZING person😭🙏🏽.
Up until now, I still can't say "good morning boss" without panicking
GodBless🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 @donjazzy"
